rsync scalability [Virus checked]

Hello rsync-users,

I need to transfer an PC image-file (200 to 400 MB) to 500 locations, 
which are
equal as concurrent users on the day X.

what parameters do you suggest to use on the central rsync-server?
any recommendation for socket options?

is it a good idea to split the file into several pieces, let´s say 10 MB ?
Does this speed up the blocksum calculation or is it better to leave the 
file in one piece?

our rsync-server has 1 GB RAM - is this OK?
