AIX rsync backup problem -- cp with hard link fails

Hi all,

 

I have several AIX systems that would like to do incremental backup.

I am using the rsync and cp -al to do that.

However, since the entire system is made up of several filesystems on
different VGs, 

I am getting the hard link cp problem, with this error:

"Cannot link to a file on another device."

 

How should I get around this problem?
