That message tells you that either the other end of the connection went
away unexpectedly or the networks connection went down.  If the error is
repeatable, then it is likely to be the former (but rsync has triggered
bugs in network drivers before, so the latter is still sometimes
possible).  See the Issues and Debugging page for instructions on how to
try to diagnose the cause of the remote rsync going away (see #3):
