hum, I have applied on rsync 2.6.4 but I am not sure my command is correct:

ckrmac:/tmp/rsync-2.6.4 root# patch < /tmp/diff.patch
can't find file to patch at input line 8
Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?
