rsync 2.6.3 hang (was rsync 2.6.2 crash)

Thanks for the suggestions for different tunneling tools. This really only helps with half 
my problem- I need to sync local dirs, too. I'm guessing that this is really a cygwin problem
in select(), but I'm not a good enough programmer to dig into it. I've got a local guru
looking at it, but I think I may have to investigate other options, such as Unison
