rsync hangs during large file-list exchange if verbosity is high

It doesn't seem to be in bugzilla, though, so it's not very surprising
that it fell through the cracks (this is the reason why I got bugzilla
going for the project -- to try to avoid losing bug reports).

Fortunately the bug was easier to fix than I thought it would be, so
I've just checked in some simple changes that takes care of this hang.

If anyone knows of any other old bugs that aren't in bugzilla, please
either email the list or file a bug report.  Thanks,
