--exclude not working?

got the solution for it. just FYI you don't need to put the full path just --exclude=/some/dir/file

Hello,
	am using the following flags for my rsync line

rsync --exclude=/path/to/a/file -av /some/dir /some/other/dir

and every time it sync the file is copied, any idea why? or am using the wrong expression?
