RSYNC Error in resolving hostnames since 2.5.4

Dear Listmembers

I hope somebody can help me with the following rsync problem.

I am trying to connect (at least list the modules) to an rsync 2.4.6 server
with a 2.5.4 / 2.5.5 client.

I compiled rsync 2.5.5 on an AIX 4.3.3 and on a HP UX 11.x system and I get
the same
behaviour on both systems.

Command:

rsync oradump:: (oradump is a 2.4.6 server)

Error message:

rsync: getaddrinfo: oradump 873: Host not found
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(97)

The problem is that "ping oradump" gives answer. Even if I use the FQDN
"oradump.ch........com"
it still doesn't work. If you compile 2.4.6 on the same system it works
fine.

There must be something strange with host to address resolution within 2.5.4
or higher.

We have a full NIS/YP environment and DNS as well. I can't imagine what the
problem is because
all other programs such as rlogin, telnet, ftp to "oradump" work with the
same simple syntax.
And as I said it works fine with 2.4.6.

BTW, We also have rsync 2.4.6 servers running on DEC UNIX and the 2.5.5
client shows the same
behaviour when them.

Any idea folks
