Hi Tony.

I hope I'm not reading this wrong but you can set the Helper Applications inside the 
Thunderbird settings:

Edit -> Settings -> General -> Files & Attachments    -  Filter on http

I'm using Thunderbird 115.11.0 on OpenSUSE.
