Thank you to all who sent suggestions. I ended up installing the Gboard, Google keyboard app onto my Android phone. Here are the results of that sentence that I sent earlier:

Not too bad. I think it's good enough to get down my friends thoughts. I just need to add punctuation, change a few words and capitalise.
I've allowed the Gboard app to access the internet via WiFi and a VPN. Hopefully that will help with some privacy. :-)
