[clug] What could be stopping dhclient from setting the default route?

I do not have much experience with Ubuntu servers specifically but from 
my experience these kind of issues out of the box are from people trying 
to run multiple network daemons.

For a server I would ensure that NetworkManager is not enabled or any 
other network manager and just configure systemd networkd.

Check that no other networking clients have been enabled by default.
