[clug] CLUG, ANU and COVID-19

Hello Everyone.

Yesterday ANU released the first version of their COVID-19 management
plan. It's available at

Within this, they have a section on events, which includes this advice
for staff;

"As a precautionary measure and based upon the advice from our expert
panel, we will cancel all public and social events from Monday 16 March
until the end of semester one, Saturday 20 June. This is a precautionary
measure that we know will be disappointing for many, but our aim is to
reduce opportunities for the virus to spread by limiting activity on
campus without disrupting our essential teaching and research activities. 

Cancellation and postponement will extend to all discretionary events
including ticketed and non-ticketed public events, public lectures and
concerts."


While I'm sure we all have our own feelings about the impact of the
COVID-19 virus on our own lives, we must at time like this think about
the people a step further out from us, our families, friends and
neighbors. Our actions will directly impact on their health and
wellbeing, doubly so for those with already compromised Immune systems.

As such, the March 2020 CLUG meeting has be canceled, and the April
meeting will be reviewed at the start of April, based on information
from the ACT Health Directorate and any updates to the  ANU management plan.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has
prepared, or offered, a talk that would have been given in this time,
and as we go forward, we might very well try some LUG meetings via video
presentation, but for now, perhaps queue up some of the wonderful
content available on the Linux.conf.au youtube channel, or take some
time to complete your own personal projects, and maybe put some thought
into the associated talk for when we're all back again ;)
