[clug] Gnome file name display

My tower-PC and laptop now run Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Bionic Beaver. Whereas 
previously I was used to Unity, now I am trying to get used to Gnome.

My current gripe is that my previously-displayed-OK long file names 
(like 16 characters), now get wrapped after 8 characters. Is this a 
gnome theme that I can change?

I have installed Gnome Tweaks. Which under "Themes" has "Shell" showing 
`!', and a blank list-box.
