Abstract:

Geoscience Australia is a major government data publisher. We are always looking to better serve the nation by making that data and information maximally accessible.

Recently we started publishing data according to "Web 3.0", or Semantic Web, principles. This greatly enhances consumer access and understanding and starts to allow online  machines to understand and use our data too. This puts us at the forefront of Australian government data deliverers.

?This talk describes Web 3.0 and how Geoscience Australia is using it to deliver data. Also mentioned is why it is of great value to government and Australia generally.

This talk is presented as part of the Distinguished Geoscience Australia Lecturer series.
