I take it you are using the term "computers" in a very broad sense:
  - the hardware,
  - the operating system,
  - the middleware,
  - the program that does the tallying (properly tested and debugged),
  - the data entry operators,
  - the sys. admins,
  - the authentication/authorisation/access-control system,
  - the backup system,
  - etc.
