Monument Labs Inc [still fundraising, I believe]

This is an ARM device running some Linux variant, but with some extra software or maybe smartphone Apps.
It’s got WiFi, an SD-card and 2 USB ports to connect drives.
I’m trying to reconcile the cost of the unit (>US$100) with the the Raspberry Pi. Are the specs different enough?
[Does come with a power supply, I’m guessing]
Questions:
- does anyone do something this at home/work currently?
- what platforms would work?
- One of the indexes they create is ‘faces' (+ date/time, camera).
- Is there good Opensource to identify faces in photos?
Does anyone use any of this software?
regards
steve
