[clug] firefox started rewriting http->https?

In the last few days I have a problem where the browser goes to https:// when I request http://.
This is very disruptive, for example http://www.bom.gov.au/ was working but https gets no response.
Other sites may accept https.

The first case was when I accessed my own server (at home) from my workstation, So requesting
	http://192.1683.7
goes to https:...
The server had no updates for a while so I doubt it is the source of the change.

This is firefox 47.0. I tested it on an ubuntu vm (same ff version) and there it works fine,
so I wonder what changed. I removed my proxy and disabled all add-ons to no avail.


Any ideas?
