Hi all,

Just wanted to share my discovery of gqrx, which is mentioned in Mike's notes
but doesn't get more than that in explanation. The good news for me was that
after wrestling with installing shinysdr, gnuradio dependencies, python module
installs and various other things I just did:

dnf install gqrx

as root and then could run gqrx, which gave me the simpler functions of
shinysdr - tune to frequency, waterfall diagram and spectrum analysis, listen
in on a frequency as audio, and recording it to a file. There's more
instructions here:

http://gqrx.dk/doc/practical-tricks-and-tips

Enjoy!

Thanks once again to Mike for giving this talk! I've now been able to record
two of the three devices I want to watch, and I just have to work out how to
take the audio or similar and process it into some form of numeric output :-)

Have fun,

Paul
