Abstract: Storing and losing data at scale - AARNet's cloudstor

In 2014, AARNet setout to full-fill a need identified within the the
Australian research community; a secure, robust, fast cloud storage
system that could provide access to a users files anywhere in the
world there was an internet connection, whilst still providing
security, flexibility, and ease of use. The original Cloudstor product
was used to for ephemeral file transfers, with the source file being
automatically deleted after 30 days. This new service was seen to
extend the functionality of the original cloudstor product, so
demonstrating why you don't let engineers name things, CloudstorPlus
was launched. Steve will take you though the design decisions that led
to the system the way it is today, the engineering behind the systems,
and show you all the dirty tricks network engineers pull to get stuff
moving fast, even on a white-space network.

Anything else that pops up can come up for discussion.
