Bryan,
A good first step in troubleshooting these sorts of problems is to search
for the error message you are receiving.
For example:
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=%22Failed+to+download+repository+information+Check+your+Internet+connection%22
returns over 2,000 results. You might start there and if the results don't
help you then ask a question on this list.
