I had mentioned to Eyal that Brother's installer had put ".deb" files on 
my Desktop. And I remembered that Ubuntu Software Centre could open 
those. So I used that to open them one at a time. And so I reinstalled 
such as CUPS wrappers.

I have since been able to print a text file and a Web page.
