[clug] Diagnosing display freeezes

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Following up on them seems to have scared the symptom into submission
for now, which in the short term is ideal, and I now have a plan for
when it re-presents as it almost certainly will .
Couldn't trigger it with xev
htop running
lmsensors installed and I'll work out how to use it this evening.
