Oops - that was a totally unrelated post. I am certainly not advocating
that anyone (with sudo access) uses that command over a remote login!

Sorry for any confusion. I was just tired and venting at having to
wander up to the machine room to log into the console of a server I
had just taken off the network...

(the command should have been: "sudo ifdown eth0 ; sudo ifup eth0",
or "ifdown eth0 ; ifup eth0" when run as root...)
