I favour the LPI unless you're already employed in a Red Hat environment
- or plan a career in one. And that'd be the deciding factor in "what"
is the best "Linux' certification - "in whose eyes"(?)

Out of interest I took a dig for the latest costs:-

There's now three LPI certifications - Essential (basic), LPI 1, LPI 2,
and LPI 3.

Finding information on where the sit the examinations is almost as hard
to find information on pricing.[*1]

LPI 1 is about $170, Essentials is a bit less. (see "vouchers")[*2]

Plenty of free, and libre, training material (and software).
