Andrew,
FYI I'm not really looking for any Unix admin, my previous role was a Analyst programmer
and Applications support, which covered both Linux/Windows/Mainframe environments.
Like you my position was made redundant too so I'm trying to figure out if I need to
specialise or maintain a broad range of skills.

I hear you about the Security (chicken and egg situation) so I this might limit the number
of jobs I can apply for in Govt. I did have a security clearance but it has lapsed many
years ago.

thanks for the input.

Paul

A potential employer is far more likely to sponsor your clearance if you currently have work, than if you are out of work awaiting clearance before you can start - because they realise you need to put food on the table until you are cleared.
