e.g. (for a Debian system):-
$ dpkg --get-selections | grep linux-image
linux-image-3.10-22.dmz.1-liquorix-686          install
linux-image-3.2.0-4-686-pae                     install
linux-image-liquorix-686                        install

$ su -c "echo ``linux-image-liquorix-686 hold'' | dpkg --set-selections"
