[clug] "The Year of the Linux Desktop"? Did we win the war and not notice?

In the early 2000's There was a recurring theme in the Tech Press, "Will
this be the Year of the Linux Desktop?"

By any measure, POSIX has won the war of total compute devices:
servers, cloud servers, mobile devices, embedded devices and the old
Desktop.

I'm wondering if anyone on-list has seen any articles on the topic, or
related one, recently.

Since 2007/8 and Android/iOS, POSIX shipments have come to dominate user
devices.
The old 'Desktop' is just one small fraction of user-facing devices and
becoming an increasingly small niche, as we've seen with Ben's recent
question...

Thanks in Advance

Steve
