Wait, wait.

- I was only providing information.  I was not criticising. 
- Your action here was hardly worth apologising for.  Your intents were 
good.
- I *still* would have provided this information - I had hoped it would 
provide some context to the original email you received and point out that 
these things have been around *forever* - they're convincing because they 
prey on people's good natures, sadly.
- The *really* sad thing is that it's a very public mistake to make, and 
when it is pointed out the reaction is usually embarassment - and to do 
fewer good-natured things as a reflex reaction in future.

Still, I apologise if I've caused offence.  It was not meant.
