Yes it can. You use a command line virtual box tool to set up access to a
partition as a virtual disk.

I had it working, booting Ubuntu and then starting the bundled win 7 in
vbox. It still works but sadly I installed Microsoft security essentials,
which requires "genuine advantage" or some such. Windows now spots the
changed hardware and complains a lot.

Probably would not work well with non-oem windows for similar windows
validation reasons.
