[clug] linux Digest, Vol 118, Issue 2

I worked for hrs on the laptop pulling it apart and I got to the fan this time but it's still not working. 
When I said files open, I can see pictures & see music playing playing but there's no sound. There's no sound icon.. :(
A friend said her dad us retired and uses Linux so I might pass it on to him. 
Worse case I have no buy a new laptop and hopefully save the hard drive. Hopefully!
