If the new eePC isn't being used "for real", could another Distro be
loaded and tried to rule in or out a problem with Gnome etc?

Can anyone suggest a good alternative Distro for John to try?
Would Ubuntu without a GUI be suitable?

The premise being:
 - see it work once and figure out any subtle "secret sauce",
 - then move to Distribution of Choice and look to tweaking those bits
[like the Gnome keychain]

cheers
steve
