Update on my ZTE v9 running cyanogenmod 7:

(1) Overclocking - stable at 748MHz (cf stock 605MHz)
 
     I cheated and used the $2 setCPU app

(2) Python - sl4a_r4 and PythonForAndroid_r4

     Instructions in the "Practical Android Projects Ch05" free download.

    All on the downloads page.

Its all good.
