[clug] F15, mythtv and gnome-shell

As I launch mythtv (not touching the first screen yet) I can see this in 'ps fax' (see below).

Is this reasonable? I do not recall this in the past (meaning before f15). Does mythtv usually
launch so many processes (which are left abandoned)?

Later, when I am watching a recording, while mythtv shows moderate CPU usage, gnome-shell
is *very* busy:
