Canberra Linux Users Group Meeting - 26th May 2011
==================================================
Date: 26th May 2011 (Fourth Thursday of the month)
Time: 19:00 - 21:00 (or when it finishes)
Speaker: Alistair De Silva, Angus Gratton, Chris Wolfe
Abstract:
*** NOTE: CHANGE OF VENUE ***
For this CLUG meeting, the MakeHackVoid group will be
showing the CLUG members around their new premises
opposite 30 Frencham St, Downer. The sign on the
driveway says "ACT Motor Trades Association". There is
a map at
http://www.makehackvoid.com/community/our-space#location
*** NOTE: CHANGE OF VENUE ***
MakeHackVoid is a Canberra group dedicated to hardware
hacking - modifying existing things and making new
things to do neat, cool stuff. Now, thanks to
co-operation from the ACT government, they have a shed
in Downer to work in. This allows sharing of tools,
collecting useful equipment and resources, and a
well-equipped workshop for projects.
This evening the MakeHackVoid members will be showing
CLUG members around the facilities, explaining the
benefits of membership, showing off some of the
members' projects, and demonstrating some of the shared
facilities including the CNC mills that are member
projects.
MHV is still organising their heating system for winter.
Although there are heaters in the space it is still
prone to be somewhat cold at night. Attendees are
advised to rug up!
Venue: Room N101
Computer Science and Information Technology Building
North Road
The Australian National University
See http://clug.org.au/ for more directions and a map
Food/drink: Pizza and soft drink/juice. Come hungry, and bring
about $6 to cover the cost of your share if you
want some.
