I tend to leave my USB key plugged in - so attaching to my phone would
be inconvenient - but I do have it attached to my "other" keys, mainly
to stop me leaving them around the place, and because the clothing clip
that came with the USB key is an easy way to secure a big bunch of sharp
metal keys.

You could use a very low-tech chain of elastic bands. Attach the USB key
to a cheap "rape" alarm (matchbox size) - and attach yourself to it by
the rubber bands. Try and rapidly leave your USB key behind and you'll
get (if you engineer the weak link furtherest from you) a stinging
reminder - try and slowly leave and you'll get an ear splitting warning.

A magnet that you take into various workplaces, and then put in your
pocket.... wcpgw (fortunately for you zinc whiskers are diamagnetic)

Cheers
