This (and the other queries in the post by Ben Hutchings) was answered on 
29 March 2011. At his request, a copy of my answer was sent to "619521-
quiet at bugs.debian.org".

'apt-config dump' had no entry that matched "Dir::Media::MountPath" - 
which might explain the lack of follow-up.
