My thanks to Adam for making an interesting evening and demonstrating
how to solve problems, up to and including "my main machine died yesterday".

And for braving the cold... Sorry the usual eatery was closed, I wanted
to talk more.

Adam said he might revisit the topic, sending SMS's via phone 'modem'.
 +1 from me :-)

There were 3 of us talking after PSIG & the conversation wandered to
Computer Security and I made a comment that AUSCERT claimed "The Hackers
turned Pro" in 2004.

Seems my recollection was faulty - facts correct, but they didn't use
those words. I thought I'd read them in the report, or in a news item
about the report, but GOOG says I'm the only person to have used the
term :-(
Apologies for that.

The 2005 ACCSS (Australian Computer Crime & Security Survey), starts on p24:

"Cyber attacks motivated by illicit financial gain rising in volume and
sophistication"

"As the national computer emergency response team for Australia, AusCERT
has seen first hand the changing nature of cyber threats over the last
two years."

"More than ever before, a growing number of cyber attacks on the
Internet are being orchestrated by criminals motivated by illicit
financial gain."
