All isn't necessarily lost, sanity has prevailed in the past.
Keep chiselling away.

Remember the Government OSI Profile (GOSIP) and how for years it was The
Truth, The Light, The Way??? And a staggeringly expensive, complex and
fraught networking 'standard'.

And within a space of 6 months it became irrelevant and disused globally
because of a simple policy change by the USA:
 use Industry Standards...
