have you looked at FAI (Fully Automatic Installation)?

http://fai-project.org/ is what the Catalyst kids in uNZud use for their 
lab and system deployment, and it apparently is the ducks guts when it 
comes to rubber stamping out Debian and Ubuntu Installs.
