You do NOT have to jailbreak the ZTE in order to do the upgrade to 2.2.
I have chosen to NOT jailbreak mine, yet.

DSE has the ZTE v9 (mytab) back in stock, now $129.

Q: Is there a preferred order for the upgrade to 2.2/jail break?
   i.e. should the break be done first or the upgrade.
