Well given that I use FAI + cfengine and thus nuke and re-install on a
regular basis I have no idea how you would update and existing
install... :)

It does seem to make for a faster boot though. The other nice
improvement is a much more appropriate text/console size
(Ctrl-Alt-F1). No doubt this is just a kernel change that Ubuntu has
inherited though, I haven't looked into the details. Makes sorting out
issues on boot/servers much more fun when you are stuck in a machine
room squatting on the floor with a keyboard on your lap.
