Is there any reason you're particularly interested in the server  
version?

The Mac Mini has FireWire 800 *and* USB 2.0, so there's absolutely no  
reason you can't add external hard drives.  There are even hard drive  
enclosures designed to look like the Mac Mini so you can stack your  
Mac Mini and all the external drives neatly.  There is also a Western  
Digital "Passport" drive with FireWire 800, which is bus-powered (will  
have one at the meeting tonight).
