I have no idea on the context of this but if you are after DTP work, I
use Scribus for CMYK PDF seps that are then sent to the Canberra Times
and included as is without re-imaging.  They have no issue with them
so far after telling me multiple times that I had to buy <expensive
proprietary things> and use <that other OS> or else it would not
work...
