Every year we have someone on list who needs a disk drive recovered...
Anybody heard of or used these guys??
At CEbit last week, this small company was a standout for me...
A display that interested geeks - hard-drives with the tops off, and
many in various states of failure. Frozen spindle motor, head-crash with
everything wiped off the media, dead electronics. Big ones, little ones,
tiny ones, old ones... Good collection.
They recover hard-disks, they're at St Leonards in Sydney.
Min price is $320, Max might be <$1,000 (unsure).
Usual price to recover a failed drive is $400-$500.
I only asked about drive failures, the website seems to indicate they
will attempt to recover data from corrupt filesystems too.
I was impressed because they had energy & knowledge, were active on LUG
list, were more than happy to talk/demonstrate things Geek, *and*
disclose prices. They had a cute giveaway - fold-up card with calendar
reminding you to 'backup data'.
Full Disclose:
I've never used the service, only met them the once last week.
No other connection with them. Never conversed with anyone who's used
their service.
