OK :-) If it does happen, it will have been two years of promises. 7th
July 2007 was the initial announcement, I believe.

Never-the-less, they shouldn't be needing to "make this happen" at
all. Why wasn't LP open source from the beginning?
It has been developed using a closed source methodology (to build and
maintain their market share) and now that everyone wants it, they're
open sourcing it (due, IMO, to external pressure and not a belief in
open source software).

If they were an open source company, it would have been open from the
get go. Canonical pretends to be an open source company and that
annoys me.
