It's worth noting that most Macs had a "power" button on the keyboard
for a long, long time. No it's not just a case of selecting the wrong
menu item, sometimes it was a case of fat fingers or cat walking over
the keyboard :)
The Mac OS (from about System 7 or so) also has the option to shut the
computer down at a fixed time, the dialog will be displayed at the
scheduled time giving the user the opportunity to stop the shutdown
from happening.
