[clug] Ubuntu 9.04 Question

Is there a reason why when shutting 9.04 down it has a 60 second timer?

If there is no particular reason where can I go to alter something to have it just shut down?

After all the little countdown window that pops up does have the option to just click shut down.  Being a trusting person I figure if they have a 60 second countdown it is there for a reason.  But if the reason is to get me to sit at my computer for an extra 60 seconds it fails every time.

Remember a fairly new user here so basic directions are still needed.
