Note that I only dug this up as I remember seeing this in the
nvidia-settings doovie-wap thing at work and I do remember fiddling
with it from time to time just to test.

Mind you under "other Fruity OS" there were some monitors that used to
do this automatically yonks ago when you rotated the monitor. Pivot's
or something. Never figured out if the signal was going back via the
video cards with the whacky Mac sense pin monitor thing or via some
USB doovie in the monitor using a reed switch.

I have no idea if this is still the case but from pulling monitors
apart to make cheap digital photo frames I have certainly not ever
found such a thing...

Sounds like a fun little project to make one though...
