Certainly works here. I am using default ubuntu 32 and 64 with a
default firefox install.

This is with both an older T42 thinkpad (ATI card + Ubuntu i386) and
an X60 + Ubuntu amd64

Perhaps a video card issue?  (perish the thought!)
