My desktop box, alloy, is having trouble seeing my camera. It's an
Ubuntu Hardy KDE 3.5 machine running 2.6.22-14-generic.

All I get in the log when I plug the camera into this machine is:

Feb 15 17:17:17 alloy kernel: [ 6915.475406] usb 5-2: new full speed
USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
Feb 15 17:17:17 alloy kernel: [ 6915.638960] usb 5-2: configuration #1
chosen from 1 choice

If I lsusb I see this:

Bus 005 Device 005: ID 04a9:3084 Canon, Inc. EOS 300D / EOS Digital Rebel

It doesn't get detected as a mass storage device or as a camera and I
can't get to files on it. Since the kernel doesn't seem to be seeing
it as a device, I'm not sure where I ought to look next. I installed
DigiKam and told it about the 300D, but it can't get to it either.

Any ideas?

Ta,
MC
